What our crews do

We work in forestry, on plantations in Mpumalanga. Each job has its own crew.

The NHR (spraying) team.

Spraying

Chemical weed control in plantations, so young trees are not competing for water and light. The spraying is done by our NHR team, led by supervisor Mpendulo Mandlazi.

The team travels with its own bakkie and trailer, so the crew and the equipment arrive together.

Pruning

Taking the lower branches off standing trees so they grow clean, straight timber. Our pruning team works through a plantation one compartment at a time.

Chainsaw work

On the job

Our chainsaw team also cuts and clears trees outside the plantation. If a tree at your home has to come down, call us.

Health and safety

Our crews work with chainsaws, falling timber and chemicals. These are the basics on every one of our sites.

Safety starts with me

  • Full PPE

Overalls, hard hats, gloves, ear protection and safety boots, as shown on our site boards. Chainsaw operators add face visors, and everyone on site wears hi-vis.

  • Marked work areas

“Danger! Harvesting in progress” boards go up at our sites. They show the PPE required, warn “No unauthorised persons” and give our contact number.

  • Supervisors and a first aider

Our pruning and spraying teams each work under a supervisor on site. The spraying (NHR) team also has its own safety rep and first aider, so help is close at hand.

Who keeps our crews safe

If someone is hurt on site, these are the people the crew calls first.
